Engagement with the MMC

The current Mayor of Amman, Yousef Shawarbeh, is a founding member of the MMC and has served on the Leadership Board since 2018. The City of Amman is  a grantee of the Global Cities Fund for Migrants and Refugees, is a member in the C40-MMC Global Mayors Task Force on Climate and Migration​. ​​The Great Amman Municipality also signed the Marrakech Mayors Declaration, pledging to the Call to Local Action for Migrants and Refugees in 2023, and​​​​​​ ​​represented the ​​​MMC in several diplomatic events, including the ​2023 and ​2019 Global Refugee Forum, a​s well as​​nd​ participated in advocacy campaigns such as Covid-19.
