Elise Shea

Knowledge and Impact Manager

As Knowledge and Impact Manager at the Mayors Migration Council (MMC), Elise leads the organization’s research, impact assessment, and learning work.

She has spent the past decade working at the intersection of migration, research, strategy, and social innovation. Before joining MMC, Elise worked at the Global Development Incubator, where she helped launch social impact start-ups. As Chief of Staff for The Migration Opportunity, one of GDI’s initiatives, she helped scale labor mobility efforts globally and deployed $4.2M in migration funding in 18 months. Earlier, as Policy Research Manager at Ground Truth Solutions, she designed quantitative and qualitative research capturing people’s perceptions of humanitarian aid in crisis contexts, and established the organization’s global policy unit to advocate for reforms that enabled affected people to make decisions about the aid they receive. Elise is also the founder of Conversations Unbound, a nonprofit that employs displaced people as language tutors, and now chairs its board. She holds a Master of Public Policy from the University of Oxford and a BA in International Studies and French from Vassar College.
