Cynthia Nahhas

Communications Manager

Cynthia Nahhas joined the Mayors Migration Council in June 2023. Her professional journey has encompassed content creation, research, and impactful storytelling. As an Armenian raised between Syria and Lebanon, Cynthia is interested in understanding the mediation and preservation of migrant identities. Working at organizations such as the Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation, the American Film Institute, and Kooyrigs NGO & Inc., have allowed her to share the stories of migrants and refugees through various mediums, including photography, videography, and written narratives.

Cynthia received a Master of Arts degree in Media, Culture, and Communication from New York University, where she pursued a visual culture track and studied the mediations of Armenian diaspora identity. Prior to this, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Media and Communications from the American University of Beirut. Throughout her time in academia, Cynthia’s experiences ranged from creating visual ethnographies to participating in academic conferences.
