Vittoria Zanuso

Executive Director

Vittoria Zanuso is the Executive Director of the Mayors Migration Council (MMC), a global coalition of over 250 mayors committed to accelerating global action on migration and displacement. She transformed MMC from an initiative supported by the Open Society Foundations and the Swiss Government into a thriving nonprofit organization, raising more than $25 million and expanding its donor base from two to 12.

As the chief executive, Vittoria works with a board of mayors to provide strategic oversight and direction. She has built a dedicated team of 14 full-time employees and represents MMC in key forums, such as the UN General Assembly and the UN Migration Multi-Partner Trust Fund’s Steering Committee. Under her leadership, mayors have become influential voices in emerging policy areas like climate migration and municipal finance. Her insights and achievements have been recognized in Time, Al Jazeera, The Hill, Bloomberg, Inside Philanthropy, and the World Economic Forum.

Before joining MMC, Vittoria was a founding member of the Rockefeller Foundation’s 100 Resilient Cities initiative, where she helped establish a network of 100 cities and developed the organization’s urban migration practice.

Vittoria’s career began in strategic communications, starting at the Spokesperson’s Office of the Vice-President of the European Commission in Brussels, and then at the Clinton Global Initiative in New York City.

Originally from Milan, Italy, Vittoria holds an MPA in International Policy and Management from NYU’s Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service and a BA in Politics from Queen Mary University of London.
