Event Overview

Miami, United States —  On Monday, March 11, the Mayors Migration Council and the Climate Migration Council  in collaboration with the University of Miami’s Climate Resilience Academy will host a session during the Aspen Ideas: Climate Summit in which a panel of mayors and global experts will convene to explore the challenges and opportunities at the intersection of climate change, migration, and displacement.

The panel presents a unique opportunity for innovative minds to share adaptive solutions and best practices for city-led approaches to address the reality that 200 million people could be driven from their homes for climate-related reasons by 2050 and the ways the issue of climate shapes migration trends in cities. By identifying the successful inroads and potential investments that world leaders can pursue to tackle the impact of the climate crisis on migration and displacement in cities across the globe, the discussion aims to cut through fear-based narratives and amplify a vision for inclusive climate and migration policies in everyday communities.
