Manuel Trujillo
City & Partner Engagement Lead
Manuel Trujillo joined the Mayors Migration Council (MMC) in August 2024. In his capacity as City & Partner Engagement Lead, he develops strategies to deepen mayoral engagement and foster international partnerships to advance global action on migration.
Manuel previously served as Director of International Relations at the Mayor’s Office of the City of Barranquilla, Colombia (2020-2023). In this role, Manuel successfully secured international funding to support the city government in various migration-related initiatives, positioning Barranquilla prominently across multiple international city networks. He has also worked in the National Government of Colombia, serving as senior advisor at the Presidential Agency for International Cooperation, where he helped design Colombia’s Roadmap for International Cooperation and co-create pooled funding instruments with MDBs to support the implementation of Colombia’s peace accord. Additionally, he has worked in Washington D.C. as a researcher at the Committee for Economic Development and as COO of Endeavor Colombia, an international nonprofit organization for high-impact entrepreneurs.
In addition to his government and international roles, Manuel has served as a consultant for climate initiatives, providing expertise to NGOs and city governments in Latin America on developing and implementing sustainable international cooperation strategies.
Manuel has a BA in Economics and Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania and an MPA from the London School of Economics. He is passionate about the intersection of migration, economic growth, and climate change, underscoring the importance of engaging with host communities to build inclusive and resilient responses to migration issues.
